What’s Happening in Dallas: December 29 – 31

Plenty to do in Dallas on New Year's weekend!

The end of 2017 is near! It’s time to get out and make the most of the last weekend of the year.

Here are a few ways to spend the New Year’s weekend:

Let’s start the weekend off with some hockey on Friday at American Airlines Center.

The Dallas Stars play the St. Louis Blues at 7:30 pm, and tickets are still available for as low as $20.00.

Hockey fans can kick their New Year’s Eve off the same way they started it, with the Stars in town for a second game on Sunday against the San Jose Sharks.

The game starts at 7:00 pm, and tickets are selling for as low as $20.00.

If music is what you’re looking for, Forgotten Space (Grateful Dead Tribute Band) will be hosting an event in Deep Ellum beginning on Friday at the Deep Ellum Art Co.

The event entails three days of live music, art in the yard, and food trucks.

The party starts at 7:00 pm, and tickets can be purchased at the door for $20.00. If you’re a believer in pre-planning, tickets can be purchased in advance for $16.00. A three-day pass to the event is going for $40.00.

For parents looking to give their kiddos a New Year’s experience and for the kiddos who will be asleep come midnight on the 1st, they can get their New Year’s fix at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library by attending the Noon Year’s Eve Party on December 30th, where they will count down to noon.

Activities for the kids will be taking place leading up to the countdown.

Getting back to adult activities, the Dallas Farmer’s Market will be hosting the Drink Dash event on Saturday.

Drink Dash includes promotions, drinks of all kinds (wine, adult, and non-alcohol beverages!), a scavenger hunt, giveaways, a photo booth, a fortune reader, live music with Richmond Punch, and a 2017 Reflections activity station & more!

You can purchase a souvenir wine glass pricing at $10.00 for the event. Doors open at 12:00 pm and close at 3:00 pm.

If it’s a huge New Year’s Eve bash you’re interested in, look no further than the Dallas NYE Ball 2018 at the Crowne Plaza.

The event typically attracts thousands of party goers and consists of three party floors to accommodate all.

Each floor is themed, with the top floor (Throwback Room) delivering the 80s – 90s sensation, with music from this era being featured.

The middle floor (Mainstream/Salsa Room) will feature hip-hop, top-40, and electric in one room and salsa music in an adjoining room on the same floor.

The bottom room (Underground Room) will be featuring hip-hop and pop music.

All floors will feature multiple bars along with games, such as Jumbo Jengo, Corn Horn, and Beer Pong.

The event starts at 7:00 pm, and expect to be kindly booted from your seat at 2:00 pm when doors must close.

Tickets range from $40.00 to $250.00.

Information for other concerts taking place over the weekend is available here.

Suggestions for local acts and small venues this weekend include the Granada Theater, Tree, House of Blues, and the Bomb Factory.
